A Living Record

This film honors Curtis Renee—an abolitionist who fought for Black liberation and community safety reform. Curtis was a professional chef, a dedicated organizer, and a deeply generous person: a child, sibling, and friend. We’re grateful for the time we shared with them.

The film was screened at Curtis’s Celebration of Life on October 11, 2026, with support from Black Lives Matter Detroit, Detroit Safety Team, Keep Growing Detroit, Allied Media Projects, and Freedom Dreams in Philanthropy.

Rest in power, Curtis.
